I am one of those non-traditional people for meals at Christmas. I do not bake a ham, or truss a turkey. We do all that at Thanksgiving and to be honest, it is so much work, I just do not want to do it at Christmas.
So we usually end up with a smorgasbord of casseroles. Yum!
Here is one of my favorites and from my mother's Favorites cookbook dated from 1978.
"Nutty Buddy" Sweet Potato Casserole
2 1/2 C. sweet potatoes, boiled and mashed
1 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 c. milk
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp allspice
1/2 stick butter, melted
Place in casserole dish and top with the following ingredients mixed together:
1/2 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. pecans, chopped
1/2 stick butter (dot over the top)
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes

I am all for something different on Christmas. How many years in a row do we have to eat the same meal?! This casserole sounds and looks good!
